About

INSPIRE is a cross-institutional community of biomedical researchers across Philadelphia. We bring together trainees, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and staff from multiple institutions to foster collaboration, share research, and build meaningful scientific connections across the city.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Our mission is to build a collaborative community that brings together trainees and biomedical researchers from academic institutions across Philadelphia. We aim to create a supportive environment for all—including individuals from underserved backgrounds such as first-generation students—where mentorship, resources, and opportunities are readily accessible.

By strengthening connections across institutions, we seek to foster a more inclusive, equitable, and vibrant biomedical research ecosystem in Philadelphia.

Why INSPIRE Matters

Philadelphia is one of the most diverse cities in the United States, yet the biomedical research workforce does not fully reflect this diversity.

Access to mentorship, community, and collaborative networks plays a critical role in persistence and success in science. However, these opportunities are often limited within individual institutions, especially for trainees from underrepresented backgrounds.

INSPIRE addresses this gap by building a city-wide network that expands access to mentorship, visibility, and professional development opportunities across institutions.
